What is CrossFit?
The founder himself, Coach Glassman, explained best what CrossFit is his article “What is Fitness?”.
The CrossFit definition of fitness includes 10 physical skills. You are only as fit as you are competent in each element. The 10 physical skills are: Cardiovascular & Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance & Accuracy. This is the healthiest and most valuable approach to general fitness, as specialization in any one element can lead to overuse injury and deficiencies in all elements of fitness other than the specialty. Our program uses a variety of movements drawn from gymnastics, weightlifting and cardio. We vary the movements, reps, sets, time domains, weight, etc.
The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for anybody willing to put forth the effort, regardless of experience. Just show up ready to work hard and you will get results. Each class is instructed by one of Red River CrossFit’s coaches and will include a group warm-up, strength or skill session and WOD (work-out of the day). Many days there will also be a cool-down stretching session, but if there is not enough time we encourage all of our athletes to stick around and stretch and/or foam roll. Ready to get started?
